Water Baptism

Baptism is not simply a tradition — it’s a declaration. It’s how we publicly say, “I belong to Jesus.” Jesus set the example by being baptized Himself, and He invites us to follow in the same way. When you go under the water, it represents leaving your old life behind; when you rise up, it’s a picture of the new life God has given you through Jesus.

Baptism boldly proclaims that you follow Christ, that your life is being transformed, and that you’ve joined the family of faith.

Questions about Baptism

What is baptism?

Baptism is an outward expression of an inward change — a public declaration of how Jesus has changed your life.
When you’re baptized, you’re sharing your story of transformation and inviting others to celebrate with you.
It’s not the act of baptism that saves you — Jesus already did that — but baptism is the powerful symbol and celebration of that salvation.

“The power that brought Jesus back to life is the same power that now works in us.” (See: 1 Peter 3:21)

Why should I be baptized?

Jesus instructed His followers to be baptized and personally modeled it Himself. (See: Matthew 28:19–20, Mark 1:9)
Baptism is an act of obedience that says, “I believe, I follow, and I belong.”
Because Jesus went public with His love for us, we go public with our love for Him. It’s a declaration that we’ve turned away from sin and turned toward Jesus — the only One who can truly change us.

(See: Acts 2:38–41, 1 John 2:3)

When should I be baptized?

If you’ve made the decision to follow Jesus, your next step is baptism.
Baptism is for anyone who has chosen to trust and follow Jesus — no matter your past or how long you’ve been in church. You don’t have to have everything figured out; you just have to be willing to take the step of faith.

(See: Acts 8:12)

We invite children who are ready and able to personally express their faith to be baptized. We believe that a child should have a full understanding of what it means to be baptized. We encourage kids to be at least 7 years old to ensure they understand the significance of their decision.
